A poet with a camera, filmmaker Jae Shim aspires to be someone who tells the truth in a world increasingly difficult and unpopular to do so. Jae was selected as a finalist for the Warner Bros. Emerging Film Directors Workshop for his short story 'HAPPY DEATH CO.' based on, ironically, a fake funeral service in South Korea.

Jae eventually discovered the groundbreaking work of David Cope who famously pioneered artificial intelligence and music. Nothing short of a dream project, he embarked on a five year journey with the godfather of AI music to make a film about the nature of creativity itself. 'OPUS COPE: AN ALGORITHMIC OPERA' imagines David’s world as a “documentary” and marks Jae’s feature film debut.

Notable work outside of directing includes narrative features 'THIS TIME’ (2023) directed by Sebastian Tobler, and 'PAPER MARRIAGE' (2024) directed by Jeff Man and executive produced by the Duplass Brothers.
